SINGAPORE, April 28 (Reuters) - Malaysian soccer club Kelantan is calling on its Football Association to overturn a home ban, imposed for fan violence at their Kota Baru stadium.
The north-eastern club, Malaysian FA Cup runners-up last weekend, were slapped with the unprecedented season-long ban earlier this month and also fined a total of 90,000 ringgit ($25,030) for disturbances in two matches.
However Kelantan is now asking the Malaysian FA to cut short the ban and has asked if it can host yet to be confirmed friendlies with Australia, Brazil and Thailand in coming months.
"Repair works on the stadium carried out by the state government is expected to take one month," Kelantan Football Association president Tan Sri Annuar Musa told Malaysian domestic news agency Bernama.
"It will be according to the (Malaysian Football Association) FAM's specifications which would include installing additional safety features."
