July 10 (Reuters) - Regional heavyweights Saudi Arabia are keeping faith with caretaker boss Nasser Al Johor through the final phase of Asia's World Cup qualifiers.
Last month, the three-times Asian champions sacked Brazilian Helios Dos Anjos despite him steering the team to the last 10 and have decided to let Al Johor prove himself.
"The federation's committee decided he will stay in charge of the team through to the 2010 finals in South Africa," Faisal Al Abdulhadi, general secretary of the Saudi soccer federation, told Reuters by telephone. "We are quite happy with him."
The Saudis have been drawn in Group Two with North, Korea, South Korea, Iran and the United Arab Emirates. The top two advance to South Africa automatically while the third placed team enter a series a playoffs for a berth at the tournament.
