SEOUL, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung has been recalled to the South Korean squad for the side's World Cup qualifier against the United Arab Emirates later this month.

The Premier League champions did not release Park for last month's Asian Group Two game against North Korea, a 1-1 draw, to avoid worsening a lingering knee injury.

Joining Park in a 24-player squad named on Monday for the Oct. 15 match is defender Lee Young-pyo, who moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Germany's Borussia Dortmund earlier this year, the Korean Football Association said in a news release.

"I hope they will play solid roles in their positions," South Korea's head coach Huh Jung-moo said in the release.

North Korea and Saudi Arabia top the standings with four points each from two matches.

South Korea, looking for their seventh straight trip to the World Cup finals, are level with Iran on one point from one match each, while the UAE are rooted to the bottom of the table after losing both of their matches.
