MAPUTO, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Ivory Coast moved to within a point of the final phase of Africa's 2010 World Cup qualifiers after earning a 1-1 draw away in Mozambique on Sunday.
Striker Bakary Kone scored just after halftime in Maputo to give the Ivorians the lead, but it lasted just four minutes before South African-based wing back Miro equalised.
The draw kept up Ivory Coast's unbeaten run in Group Seven and moved them on to nine points, three more than Madagascar, who beat Botswana 1-0 in Antananarivo earlier on Sunday.
The Ivorians, who played at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, host Madagascar in Abidjan next month. Ivorian captain Didier Drogba is expected to return from an injury lay-off that has seen him miss all five of their 2010 qualifiers to date.
