RIO DE JANEIRO, March 3 (Reuters) - Brazilian first division team Barueri have ended their experiment of having three coaches in charge of the team.
The newly-promoted club said on their website (www.grbarueri.com.br) that Estevam Soares had taken over from Toninho Moura, Diego Cerri and Luis Carlos Goiano, who had enjoyed equal status as joint coaches.
"As we believe in reaching even greater heights and in the experience in Estevam Soares, we have decided to abort the project with three coaches," said club president Walter Sanches.
"We believe the project was worthwhile and useful. We don't believe it was a failure as some people have said and we will use it again in the future."
Barueri are eighth out of 16 teams in the Paulista championship, the largest of the regional tournaments which act as a prelude to the Brazilian championship.
Moura was fired on Thursday after 10 games at the helm and Cerri and Goiano followed despite a 2-1 win over Portuguesa at the weekend. The trio had been in charge since December.
