SAN SALVADOR, Aug 23 (Reuters) - El Salvador pulled off a shock 2-0 win over neighbours Honduras in Wednesday's friendly despite a pay row which prompted the entire squad to walk out of a training camp last week.

Luis Anaya put El Salvador ahead with a left-foot shot in the 26th minute and Victor Merino scored with a free kick which found its way through a forest of legs five minutes before halftime.

El Salvador had failed to beat their neighbours in their previous four meetings, a run stretching back to 2003.

The game came less than a week after the El Salvador squad walked out of a training camp, complaining that they were owed money for playing at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June.

The players returned on Sunday after being threatened with sanctions by the federation.
