TUNIS, May 22 (Reuters) - Club Africain won the Tunisian Ligue 1 title for the first time in 12 years on Thursday, finishing two points clear of defending champions Etoile Sahel of the final day of the season.
It was the first title since 1996 for the Tunis-based club, who beat already relegated Esperance Zarzis 2-1 to finish on 63 points. Club Africain, who have now won 10 titles, came from behind to score a 76th minute winner through Youssef El Mouihbi.
Etoile Sahel beat Esperance 1-0 to finish with 61 points, having lost their long standing lead just two rounds from the end of the championship. Esperance were third with 46 points.
