DAKAR, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Bolton Wanderers striker El Hadji Diouf was named on Wednesday in Senegal's 19-man squad for a friendly against Guinea despite announcing earlier this week that he had quit international football.
The 26-year-old, who has played more than 30 times for Senegal, had been captaining his country before his surprise announcement on Monday. He cited "organisational problems" in the West African side for his decision to retire.
The president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Mbaye Ndoye, declined to comment on Diouf's situation but expressed confidence in coach Henryk Kasperczak's team selection.
"I am confident that the trainer has done his job. He has judged it necessary to pick the players he believes in," Ndoye told Reuters.
Diouf told commercial radio station RFM in a telephone interview from the Britain that Senegal players had to pay for their own plane tickets to reach games and had trouble claiming back the money.
Senegal face Guinea on Sunday in Rouen, France as part of their preparations for the African Nations' Cup in Ghana early next year. They have already qualified for the tournament.
