ASUNCION, Feb 9 (Reuters) - Paraguayan side Cerro Porteno have been banned from using the Defensores del Chaco stadium for their next four home matches in international competition following a crowd riot on Wednesday.
The club were also fined $20,000 for the trouble in the Libertadores Cup match at home to Cruzeiro of Brazil, South American Football Confederation (CSF) general secretary Francisco Figueredo told Reuters.
The match, second leg of a preliminary round tie, was suspended in the 69th minute as fans hurled stones and other objects onto the field, despite pleas from the players for them to stop.
Cruzeiro were leading 3-2 and Figueredo said the result would stand, handing the Brazilians a 6-3 win on aggregate.
It was not clear whether Cerro Porteno would be able to use their own ground, known as the Pressure Cooker, instead of the Defensores del Chaco, Paraguay's principal stadium.
Last year, Cerro were also fined $20,000 and given a two-match home ban for incidents during their match at home to Gremio in the Libertadores Cup.
