July 6 (Reuters) - Gunmen kidnapped the brother of Everton and Nigeria defender Joseph Yobo at a Nigerian hotel, police said on Sunday.

Norum Yobo was seized on Saturday by four gunmen in Port Harcourt, said Rivers state police spokeswoman Rita Inoma-Abbey. No group has claimed responsibility.

Hundreds of locals and foreigners have been abducted, and mostly released in exchange for money, in the oil-rich Niger Delta region where crime and militancy surged until late 2007 when there was a lull. Premier League Everton said in a statement they would do all they could to help Joseph Yobo.
