MEXICO CITY, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Defending champions Pachuca lost their perfect record in the Mexican Apertura championship with a 1-0 home defeat to Santos Laguna in the weekend's games.

Argentine midfielder Daniel Luduena scored from a 32nd-minute freekick for Santos Laguna, who lead Group Two with a maximum 12 points from four games.

Fernando Salazar and Juan Carlos Cacho both hit the post for Pachuca, who top Group One with nine points after their first home defeat for more than a year.

The visitors had Francisco Torres sent off in the 74th minute.

Uruguayan striker Rodrigo Lopez notched a hat-trick for America in their 4-1 win over Tecos UAG while Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas added the fourth.

UAG, who last week fired coach Dario Franco and named former Argentina coach Cesar Luis Menotti as his replacement, had taken the lead through Joel Sanchez.

Menotti, who led Argentina to World Cup victory in 1978 and is returning to coaching after more than two years on the sidelines, will face a huge task when he takes over.

The Tecos are bottom of Group One with one point from four games and 11 goals conceded.

Toluca, led by Argentina's 2006 World Cup coach Jose Pekerman, won for the second game in a row as they came from behind to beat San Luis 2-1.
