SHENYANG, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Ronaldinho, on the losing side against Cameroon in the Olympic Games quarter-finals eight years ago, said he did not want to dwell on the past as Brazil prepared to face the same team at the same stage again on Saturday.
Ronaldinho, who scored Brazil's only goal in their 2-1 golden goal defeat in Sydney, also denied that revenge was on his mind against the Africans.
"We're just thinking about these Olympics and not what happened before. We have to analyse their team carefully so we don't get surprised," he told reporters.
Asked if revenge was on his mind, he said: "It's a new chance and we have to respect their team so that this time we go home happy."
Brazil, five-times winners of the World Cup, have never won an Olympic gold in soccer and see it as the only title missing from their collection. "We have a chance to go down in Brazilian football in history, to become the first team to win gold," said Ronaldinho, who is taking part in the under-23 competition as one of Brazil's three permitted over-age players.
The 28-year-old is hoping to use the Olympics as a springboard to revive his career after struggling last season.
