MADRID, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Espanyol duo Pablo Zabaleta and Albert Riera will fly to England to take medicals ahead of moves to Manchester City and Liverpool respectively, the Primera Liga club said on Friday.
The 23-year-old Zabaleta has agreed a four-year deal with City after they agreed to pay the eight million euros ($11.79 million) stipulated to buy him out of his contract, the Spanish side said in a statement on their website (www.rcdespanyol.com).
The full back, who won gold with Argentina at the Beijing Olympics, will travel to Manchester to take a medical before completing the move.
Winger Riera, who has been capped five times for Spain, will also travel to England on Friday to take a medical with Liverpool, Espanyol said.
Spanish media have reported Liverpool will pay around 12 million euros ($17.69 million) for Riera.
It is a double setback for the Barcelona-based side who kick-off their Primera Liga campaign at home to Valladolid on Saturday.
