July 2 (Reuters) - English Premier League club Aston Villa said they had disciplined midfielder Gareth Barry for comments in a Sunday newspaper where he said he wanted to join Liverpool.

The England player said Villa manager Martin O'Neill had "found time to be a pundit for the BBC at Euro 2008 but hasn't found time to speak to me".

Villa have said the player could move to Anfield if Liverpool matched their own valuation but the Birmingham club have rejected at least two bids to date.
