LONDON, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Newcastle United have sent Michael Owen to see specialist Hans-Wilhelm Mueller Wohlfahrt in Germany after the striker picked up a thigh injury playing for England against Austria in a friendly on Friday.
Manager Sam Allardyce told the club Web site (www.nufc.co.uk) that he hoped the trip would speed up Owen's recovery but feared Newcastle's record signing would still be out for between four and six weeks.
"If we can get him back quicker, it will be a big bonus for everyone," he said.
