May 6 (Reuters) - Zenit St Petersburg, who face Rangers in the UEFA Cup final in Manchester on May 14, have asked British authorities to follow Russia's initiative and simplify the visa procedures for their fans attending the match.

On Monday, Russia waived entry visa requirements for fans with a valid ticket for the Champions League final between Chelsea and Manchester United in Moscow on May 21.

Zenit said on their Web site (www.fc-zenit.ru) that UEFA president Michel Platini had asked the British Foreign Office to do the same for Russian fans travelling to England.
