Jan 23 (Reuters) - Aston Villa's Premier League title challenge was dealt a blow on Friday when they discovered defender Martin Laursen faces a lengthy injury lay-off.

"Martin Laursen has been ruled out for eight weeks after undergoing a knee operation," Villa's website (www.avfc.premiumtv.co.uk) said.

The Denmark international has been an integral part of Villa's rise to fourth place. Villa are also without striker Ashley Young for the rest of January after he was sent off against Sunderland last week.
