LONDON, April 7 (Reuters) - Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia agreed a new deal on Monday to stay with the club into a 10th season in 2008/09.
"I'm delighted that everyone wants me to stay here," the Finnish international told the club Web site (www.liverpoolfc.tv).
"I have a good relationship with everyone at the club, the fans and the players, so it would have been a big wrench for me to leave."
Hyypia, 34, has made 440 first-team appearances for Liverpool since signing from Dutch side Willem II in May 1999 and, despite the arrival of central defenders Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, he has played 24 league games this season.
