GENEVA, June 4 (Reuters) - There is more to Portugal than Cristiano Ronaldo and Turkey will not be fooled into focusing only on him in their opening Euro 2008 Group A match on Saturday, striker Nihat Kahveci said on Wednesday.

"Sure, Cristiano Ronaldo makes a difference. He is without doubt the player of the year," Nihat told a news conference in Nyon near Geneva where the squad have their training base.

"When you have a player who has scored so many goals and has won his domestic league and the Champions League it's natural everyone is talking about him," he said.

"But you can't win with just one player. It's not just about Cristiano Ronaldo," he added. "We respect all their players and we're not just thinking about him."

The Portugal winger was on fire last season, scoring 42 goals in all competitions for Manchester United, and has a stellar cast of international team mates including Barcelona midfielder Deco and Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho.

Nihat said anyone looking at Group A, which also includes Czech Republic and co-hosts Switzerland, would conclude that Portugal were the clear favourites.

"But right now there is not much difference between the teams," he said. "All of them really fight until the very end and small incidents can be decisive in who wins the match."

Nihat has played key scoring roles at Real Sociedad and Villarreal since moving to Spain in 2002 and his goals against Norway and Bosnia played a major part in Turkey qualifying for Euro 2008.

Asked about speculation in the Turkish media that he was poised to leave Villareal and move to Fenerbahce, Nihat noted that he had three years left on his contract.

"Right now it's important that we concentrate on the Portugal match," he said.

"I don't want my concentration to be disturbed by having to talk about this. I'd be pleased if I didn't have to, not just for me but for the rest of the team as well."
