LONDON, June 5 (Reuters) - Italian defender Andrea Dossena wants to return home after a season at Liverpool during which he has struggled to make an impact at the club.

The 27-year-old left back, who joined for 7.0 million pounds ($11.23 million) from Udinese last July, started only 12 Premier League matches in his debut season.

He was quoted as saying by Italian newspaper Tuttosport he hoped to start a "new life" at Juventus for next season.

"I have spoken with Rafael Benitez. He is a wonderful person and has understood my problem," Dossena was quoted as saying by the newspaper.

"He told me that if they receive an offer that satisfies both the club and me, he will facilitate my transfer. I would run to Juve. They showed an interest in me last year, but then Liverpool stepped in and wrapped things up in less than an hour.

"In England they play continuously and the hardest training session does not last more than 40 minutes, but I need to train longer. Now I truly hope to join Juve and start a new life."
