MADRID, Dec 4 (Reuters) - The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has asked the state prosecutor to investigate an alleged match-fixing claim from the end of last season in the second division.
The game in question is Malaga's 2-1 home victory over Tenerife on June 15, which ensured the Andalucian side's promotion to the Primera Liga. Tenerife finished mid-table.
Daily El Mundo has released a recording of a conversation between Real Sociedad president Inaki Badiola and former Tenerife player Jesuli, where Jesuli purportedly said he received money as part of a plan to throw the game.
"Having heard through the media of events which could affect the purity of the competition, and taking into account that it could constitute criminal activity, the disciplinary committee have agreed to hand over the details to the office of the state prosecutor," the RFEF said in a statement.
Real Sociedad finished fourth in the second division last season.
Malaga and Tenerife's players have denied any wrongdoing, and Jesuli has threatened legal action against Badiola for recording the conversation.
