Nov 18 (Reuters) - A six-week public inquiry into Everton's plans for a proposed 50,000 seater stadium worth about 400 million pounds ($601.9 million) has begun with chief executive Robert Elstone branding the move "critical" to the club's future.
"The reality is that, if this doesn't go ahead, then in five years' time we will still be at Goodison Park. And that could be the case for 10, 20, 30 years," Elstone told the Premier League club's website (www.evertonfc.com).
"If that is the case and the Premier League continues to develop in the way it has been doing, then that presents a really challenging future for this football club."
Manager David Moyes has been fined 5,000 pounds by the FA following his reaction to referee Alan Wiley's decision not to award his team a penalty for handball in their 3-2 win at Stoke City in the Premier League on Sept. 14.
"I believe I received a fair hearing although, in truth, I don't believe it was necessary to charge me," Moyes told his club's website (www.evertonfc.com).
