LONDON, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Chelsea have appealed against the straight red card given to captain John Terry during Saturday's 3-1 victory at Manchester City.

Terry was sent off in the 77th minute for hauling down Brazilian striker Joe and his automatic ban rules him out of Saturday's home Premier League game with Manchester United.

The FA said it would consider the appeal on Tuesday.
