ATHENS, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Middlesbrough striker Jeremie Aliadiere has been banned for four matches after the FA threw out his appeal against the red card he was shown at Liverpool on Saturday.
Aliadiere was shown a straight red card for violent conduct after a petulant slap in the face of Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano who also appeared to grab the Boro player's face moments earlier.
Had Aliadiere not appealed he would have served only a three-match ban but the FA increased it to four as they considered his claim for wrongful dismissal frivolous.
