LONDON, Oct 17 (Reuters) - Newcastle's England striker
Michael Owen no longer has a buy-out clause in his contract,
chairman Chris Mort said on the club's Web site
www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk.

"There was a clause in Michael's contract which allowed him
to leave for a certain fee during the last transfer window and
the summer before that as well, but that sort of clause does not
exist any longer," Mort said. "There is no nervousness here
about his contract situation."

Owen, who joined Newcastle from Real Madrid for a club
record 17 million pounds ($34.59 million)in August 2005, has
recently been the subject of transfer speculation in British
media.
