LONDON, July 21 (Reuters) - Dutch international defender Khalid Boulahrouz has completed his move from Chelsea to VfB Stuttgart, the English Premier League club confirmed on their website (www.chelseafc.com) on Monday.

The 26-year-old Dutchman suffered a personal tragedy during Euro 2008 last month when his wife gave birth prematurely to a daughter who later died.

He previously played in the Bundesliga for Hamburg SV between 2004 and 2006 and made only 13 appearances for Chelsea before a spell on loan at Sevilla last season.

Boulahrouz is likely to replace Portugal's Fernando Meira, who is set to leave Stuttgart and join Turkish champions Galatasaray.

Earlier on Monday Chelsea announced that French midfielder Claude Makelele was leaving Stamford Bridge to join Paris St Germain.
