LONDON, July 24 (Reuters) - Sunderland manager Roy Keane has signed experienced goalkeeper Nick Colgan on a one-year deal, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.
"I got the call from the gaffer and he gave me 24 hours to think about it, but I think it took me about 24 seconds to decide," Colgan told the club website (www.safc.com).
Ireland international Colgan, 34, arrives at the Black Cats following his release by Championship (division two) side Ipswich Town at the end of last season.
Colgan will provide back-up to first-choice keeper Craig Gordon, along with Darren Ward, Trevor Carson and Martin Fulop.
