LONDON, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Struggling Middlesbrough have received a double injury blow with striker Mido likely to be out until the New Year and goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer set to miss Saturday's match at Reading.
Australia's Schwarzer, an ever-present this season, has damaged a thumb while manager Gareth Southgate revealed that a persistent groin injury could keep Egyptian striker Mido out for a more extended period.
"Due to the nature of the injury, it's very difficult to put a timescale on it but what Mido needs now is rest from playing football or training with the team," Southgate told the club's Web Site (www.mfc.premiumtv.co.uk).
Mido, who scored in his first two matches for the club, has only played in five Premier League games since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in August.
