Tottenham tie up deal for Dutchman Van der Vaart
LONDON, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur have signed Dutch international Rafael van der Vaart from Real Madrid, the Premier League club said on Wednesday.
No details of the deal were published on the club's website (www.tottenhamhotspur.com).
The 27-year-old midfielder, a member of the Netherlands team beaten in this year's World Cup final by Spain, was poised to join Bayern Munich on Monday but when the deal fell through Spurs moved in for him just before the transfer window was due to close on Tuesday.
Van der Vaart began his career at Ajax Amsterdam then joined Real from Hamburg in 2008 but dropped down the pecking order following Kaka's arrival from AC Milan last year.
