SYDNEY, Jan 11 (Reuters) - Australia midfielder Jason Culina will quit Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven when his current contract expires at the end of the season to captain the newly formed A-League franchise Gold Coast.
Culina, 28, who has played for PSV since 2005, said on Sunday he had rejected a three-year extension to his contract and had also turned an offer to play for Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb.
"I want to make a fresh start and I am ready for a new challenge," he told the Dutch club's official website (www.psv.nl).
"Players have returned to Australia from Europe before but that was usually at the end of their careers." (Reporting by Julian Linden; Editing by John Mehaffey)
