BERLIN, Aug 16 (Reuters) - New coach Juergen Klopp said he had little to celebrate even though Borussia Dortmund opened their league season with a 3-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.
The gloss was taken off the victory after Croatia forward Mladen Petric completed a move to Bundesliga rivals Hamburg SV and Brazilian defender Dede went off with suspected cruciate knee ligament damage.
"Dede's serious injury has of course put a real dampener on the mood and I'm finding it hard to talk about the game," Klopp told German broadcaster Premiere.
Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl said: "The win came at a high price. Dede's injury is a major blow and a very bitter one."
Petric joined Hamburg in a swap deal for forward Mohamed Zidan plus an unspecified payment.
"When a player wants to leave that is the best solution," Klopp said. "We got the best out of the situation that we could, Zidan plus some additional cash."
Petric was Dortmund's top scorer last season with 13 goals.
Klopp took over as coach when Thomas Doll resigned in May.
