ROTTERDAM, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Feyenoord have sacked coach Gert Jan Verbeek after a disappointing first half of the season, the club said on Wednesday.
The 46-year-old coach joined the Rotterdam club in July 2008, after previous spells at Heracles Almelo and Heerenveen, but never got the team on track.
Feyenoord are 12th in the 18-team league, 22 points behind leaders AZ Alkmaar and only five points above the relegation zone.
Feyenoord travel to Heerenveen on Friday for a league match and host them on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Dutch Cup.
