Digg ThisGENEVA, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Thursday's UEFA Cup tie between WIT Georgia and Austria Vienna has been moved from Tbilisi to the Turkish city of Rize due to the conflict in Georgia.
European soccer's governing body UEFA said on Monday the game would be moved to Armenia or Azerbaijan.
"We could not get the necessary guarantees from these two countries so we found an option in Turkey," a UEFA spokesman said on Tuesday.
The Rize Ataturk stadium is the home of the Rizespor club and has a capacity of 10,459.
Georgia launched an attack last week in an attempt to regain control over the pro-Russian province of South Ossetia. Russian forces responded by sending in troops and conducting air strikes, with hundreds of civilians being killed.
