BELGRADE, July 29 (Reuters) - Late goals gave Dynamo Kiev and Brann Bergen slender first-leg leads over their rivals in the Champions League second qualifying round on Tuesday.

A 2-1 win at Irish champions Drogheda United put Dynamo in a commanding position to reach the third and final qualifying round after next week's return leg while Brann eked out a 1-0 home win over Latvia's Ventspils.

Serbian champions Partizan Belgrade held on for a 1-1 draw at Azerbaijan's Inter Baku after the home side missed a string of second half chances to pull off an upset.

Dynamo seemed to be cruising in Dublin after Taras Mykhalyk gave them a 23rd-minute lead but it was Oleksandr Aliyev who sealed the Ukrainian side's win with an 86th-minute solo effort after Adam Hughes headed in the equaliser.

Gambian striker Njogu Demba-Nyren scored Brann's winner in the 87th minute to give the Norwegian team a fighting chance of keeping their European season alive.

Partizan have goalkeeper Mladen Bozovic to thank for avoiding defeat in Baku after he produced one superb save after another to deny the Azeris their first European win.

Midfielder Milos Bogunovic fired Partizan ahead early on when he swept home a close-range rebound but the Serbian side faded and Petar Zlatinov equalised with a deflected long-range effort in the second half.
