SOFIA, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Manchester City striker Valeri Bojinov has said he is likely to be out of action for four to five months because he needs surgery on a knee injury sustained during Sunday's Premier League win over Manchester United.
"I will have a surgery in Rome," the 21-year-old told Bulgarian Darik radio. Tests showed he had torn anterior cruciate knee ligaments.
"It will be done by the doctor who operated on Italy's Francesco Totti. He (the doctor) is a friend of my agent and we decided to choose him."
He will miss Bulgaria's Euro 2008 qualifiers against the Netherlands and Luxembourg next month.
