July 15 (Reuters) - Netherlands midfielder Orlando Engelaar has signed a three-year contract to join Schalke 04 from Twente Enschede, the Bundesliga club said on its website (www.schalke04.de).
The 28-year-old midfielder, who started all his country's Euro 2008 matches, signed for a transfer fee of about 5.5 million euros, according to German media reports.
Twente said on July 3 they had agreed to sell Engelaar, who played for NAC Breda and Genk before joining them in 2006. He made 56 league appearances for the club, who he captained to a place in the Champions League qualifying round this year.
