PARIS, Oct 8 (Reuters) - France centre back William Gallas, who has not played a competitive match in almost two months, says he is fit to play in Saturday's Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroe Islands.
"The coach prefered to rest me but I could have played," Gallas told sports daily L'Equipe on Monday, referring to Arsenal's 3-2 victory over Sunderland in the Premier League at the weekend.
Gallas has yet to play for the Gunners or the national side since he picked up a groin injury in the 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers on Aug 19.
"Physically, everything is fine. I resumed training on Friday and I will be able to play with France on Saturday."
France are third in Group B ahead of their trip to the Faroe Islands. Les Bleus will then take on Lithuania in Nantes on Oct 17.
