COPENHAGEN, May 1 (Reuters) - A Martin Retov strike in the 85th minute gave Brondby a 3-2 victory over Esbjerg in the Danish Cup final on Thursday.
Retov controlled a deflected cross with his knee before blasting the ball into the lower left hand corner.
It was the sixth cup win for the club from a working class suburb of Copenhagen, salvaging some pride from an otherwise disappointing season. Brondby lie ninth in the 12-team Danish league with six matches to go.
Samuel Holmen opened the scoring for Brondby in the 15th minute and Soren Rieks equalised in the 62nd.
Max von Schlebrugge put Brondby ahead again seven minutes later only for Rieks to strike again with an acrobatic volley in the 80th minute.
