LISBON, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Portugal defender Miguel Monteiro will miss the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Armenia on Saturday and Finland four days later after being ruled out for two weeks with a thigh injury.
Valencia's Miguel is replaced in the squad by uncapped Sporting defender Abel Ferreira, the Portuguese soccer federation said on Wednesday.
Miguel's absence is the last blow for Portugal who are battling to qualify for Euro 2008 from Group A. Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho pulled out with a back injury on Tuesday.
Portugal are second in the group, one point behind leaders Poland and three ahead of Serbia and Finland. (Reporting by Carlos Pontes, editing by Justin Palmer)
