LUGANO, Switzerland, June 12 (Reuters) - Utility player Niclas Alexandersson will miss Sweden's Euro 2008 match against Spain on Saturday and is also doubtful for the last Group D game against Russia.
"I have a calf injury so I will not play against Spain," he told Reuters on Thursday. "I am hopeful for the game after (v Russia next Wednesday) but it is not for certain."
Alexandersson, who was playing at full back, was forced to go off during Tuesday's 2-0 win over Greece in Salzburg.
His absence means Sweden must start in Innsbruck with two different players on the right side of the team after winger Christian Wilhelmsson was ruled out of the tournament on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.
"Of course you want to be available for every game but it could have been even worse if you look at Wilhelmsson," said Alexandersson.
"At least I still have hope I can play again here. We will take another decision before the Russia game."
