LONDON, March 10 (Reuters) - Bayern Munich set a Champions League aggregate record victory with their 12-1 drubbing of Sporting over the two legs of their first knockout round tie on Tuesday.

Bayern, who won the first leg in Lisbon 5-0 and Tuesday's second leg 7-1, eclipsed the previous record aggregate victory of 10-2 established by Olympique Lyon when they beat Werder Bremen 3-0 away and 7-2 at home in the corresponding round of the 2004-05 competition.

The record aggregate success in the European Cup, the forerunner to the Champions League was established by Benfica when they defeated Dudelange of Luxembourg 18-0 over two legs in the preliminary round of the 1965-66 competition.

Chelsea and Feyenoord hold the all-time aggregate record for European competition, both scoring 21-0 aggregate wins over teams from Luxembourg.

Chelsea beat Jeunesse Hautcharage by that margin in the European Cup Winners Cup in 1971-72 while Feyenoord beat US Rumelange in the UEFA Cup in 1972-73.
